Secret Sound® SS30 Speakers

Museum Tools is the originator and manufacturer of the Secret Sound® directional speaker system, which beams sharp, clear focused sound onto any exhibit or display without distracting audio spillover.

Secret Sound® is a museum-quality parabolic speaker which projects a focused beam of sound onto any exhibit without distracting audio spillover. It was designed by museum professionals to be easily installed, ceiling mounted at any height, and maintenance free, and has been in use by major institutions around the world since 1986.

The speaker housing combines reduced size and elegant design with high-tech materials and performance. Only slightly larger than a baseball, the molded-composite housing provides a strong, clean sound ideally suited for all audio presentations. The composite construction combines strength and durability with improved damping. Secret Sound® is available with a choice of three parabolas: clear, black or white. All units are in stock and can be shipped within 24 hours of our receipt of your order.

Secret Sound® speakers are available in three colors. The SS30CB has a clear acrylic reflector, the SS30BB has a black reflector, and the SS30WB has a white reflector that can be painted to match the design vocabulary of the installation situation. All three models are the same size, and deliver the same excellent performance.

MiniMac

Anywhere or anytime, Minimac is a reliable way to get an audio announcement where you need it when you need it. Minimac allows the user to record up to 4 minutes of crystal clear 100Hz – 8kHz audio. Once recorded, the unit may be triggered to playback via a contact closure from a user supplied push button, motion sensor or other control device.

Small size allows Minimac to be put almost anywhere. Non-volatile flash memory means the Minimac will retain its message even during a power outage. Built-in amplifier allows the unit to drive a speaker directly in close proximity applications. Minimac is also able to store up to 4 individual messages. Sequencing mode allows each trigger to it will play the next message until it reaches the last, then it will start from the beginning. Standard mode allows Minimac to play the same message location each time the unit is triggered.

Available models: MMD-4: 4 minutes, 4 watt speaker output, 12VDC
MMD-4/10W: 4 minutes, 10 watt speaker output, 15VDC

MacFi-MP

The MacFi-MP is a MP3 digital audio record / play system. The MacFi-mp incorporates a MPEG processor for record and playback quality of up to 15kHz bandwidth. With its increased capacity, the MacFi-mp is able to store up to 99 individual messages. Mackenzie’s Dynamic Message Length (DML) technology allows each of the 99 messages to be of different duration. DML also provides for
replacement messages to be a different length than the original, maximizing memory efficiency and compatibility with future applications.

Local recording is accomplished through a straight forward user interface with standard line level and microphone connections. Line and amplified audio outputs are provided with level control. Eight message triggers are available on the remote control terminal while the remainder may be accessed by the user interface or the Serial (RS-232) interface of the MacFi-mpe.
The MacFi-mpe adds enhanced functionality to the standard MacFi-mp. These features include Serial (RS-232) interface and synchronization relay. Push buttons and LED indicators of the MacFi-mpe are relocated to the front of the system for better accessibility in rack mount applications. The Serial interface of the MacFi-mpe allows for complete control of recording and playback as well as customization of default settings. Audio files may be mastered on a Personal Computer then digitally transferred to the MacFi-mpe in MPEG 1 Layer 1, Layer 2 or Layer 3(MP3) formats.

The MacFi-mp utilizes solid state, non-volatile, FLASH memory which stores messages until they are re-written. Message data is protected from power outages and no battery is required. The system contains no moving parts and offers unsurpassed reliability.

Microwave Sensor for MacFi and MINIMAC

The Microwave Sensor (Model MS-2) from Mackenzie Laboratories, Inc. is the ideal solution for automatically triggering message playback via contact closure. The Microwave Sensor uses radar technology to detect the disturbance of, or mass movement in its field of operation. Detection produces a contact closure. This technology is resistant to false detentions caused environmental conditions. Its small size allows the Microwave Sensor to be mounted almost anywhere. In addition, microwave technology does not require line of sight like most infrared units. This allows the Microwave Sensor be hidden behind plastic, wood, fiberglass, cloth, glass, etc and not effect the aesthetics of your installation.

The minimal power required for the Microwave Sensor allows it to share the 12VDC supply of another device in most applications.

The Microwave Sensor is able to share power and provide a single contact closure to the following Mackenzie models (As well as any other systems offering a 12VDC supply and contact input):DV-1000MT/MTS, DMR-Px/PxS, MacFi, MacFi-e.
